How do you view God?

In photography, different filters can be placed over a camera lens to change the light being captured while taking a picture. These filters can be used for a variety of photographic effects, such as softening the light, reducing glare, or even changing the color. When the picture is taken, the final output is dependent on whichever filter was used during the shoot. The light source is exactly the same regardless of the final picture.

So this is with God the Father. He doesn’t change, only our perceptions of Him do. So, what type of filter are you viewing God with? Is it a darkening filter where you see Him as condemning, harsh, waiting for you to mess up so that He can punish you? Or do you see Him with a softening filter , where He is detached from your life, and really doesn’t care what you do as long as your good deeds outnumber your bad ones?

God has said that He is for us not against us. We need to remove the filters off of our eyes and see God the way that He wants us to see Him. As He really is. A Loving Father that is longing for us to trust Him. A Father that only wishes the best upon His children. And a Father that is ready to dust us off and mend our cuts and bruises when we stumble and fall.
